Preparing for your wedding in the wake of the Coronavirus | Jenn Terrell Photography

Let’s address the huge dang elephant in the room: the corona virus. It has turned into a full blown pandemic. It came out of no where and now so many lives and plans are changing. While we don’t know much now about the impact it will have, there are options to help you prepare for your wedding day.

If your wedding day is more than a few months away then there really isn’t much to be done. There is no use in worrying about things that have not happened yet. I would move forward with business as usual in regards to planning your wedding until the day gets closer. There is a good chance there will be a vaccine or a slow down of the virus by then.

If you wedding is coming up soon here are a few things to consider:

  1. Keeping your wedding day as planned. Expect less guests to show up so consider live streaming the event for those who cannot make it. There are several ways to do this: Facebook Live, Zoom, YouTube Live, etc.

  2. Have a smaller wedding. Even if it ends up just being you, your partner, an officiant and your photographer. You can always have a big reception/party later or even an entire wedding once the dust has settled from this.

  3. Reschedule your wedding. If something drastic does happen, like the government temporarily closing state borders or not allowing large parties, talk to your wedding vendors as soon as you can about what options you have. If possible, you can always try to reschedule for a week-day (Monday-Friday and even Sunday). Those are likely not booked by vendors as most weddings are on Saturdays. Personally, I am happy to work with any couples that I have booked that need to use this option. I know that this is an emergency and not a typical occurrence.

*No matter what day you choose, your wedding day is your wedding day. If you decide to reschedule it or have less guests, or even just keep everything as is, it is still a VERY special day that you will never forget. At the end of the day, the most important thing is that you get to marry your partner and celebrate your love! Years from now this whole thing will be quite a story!

If you are in South Florida and need help getting a photographer for your wedding due to cancelations from the virus, email me directly at connect@jennterrell.com. I will also be in Arkansas for a good part of April so I am happy to help where I can and give discounts to help ease everything a bit.

To my clients, know that I am here for you. You can always reach out to me with any questions, to vent, or just to say hey if you are in isolation. This is a wild time we are experiencing and we are all in it together. Keep those hands washed with warm water and soap and if you can’t find hand sanitizer use antibacterial wipes. I have been able to find those in Miami Beach and I keep them in my purse which I also wiped down to be safe!
