Uplifting Photos in the Wake of the Corona Virus, Day 33 | Jenn Terrell Photography

Uplift Blog Series: I wanted to help be a part of online positivity in the wake of the coronavirus and social distancing measures. I have had the honor of working with some amazing people who have such interesting and uplifting stories. ❤️I think now is the perfect time to share some of those. At first, I was going to put them all into one post but I think they are each so strong they deserve their own post and it will give me something to look forward to sharing with the world each day.

DAY 33

Today I am sharing a couple of portraits of my mom. The idea for to take these portraits came after I had a dream about photographing my dad who passed when I was 12. I didn’t get a camera until I was about 15 so I never took any proper photos of him when he was alive. In my dream everything felt so real. He was right there and I was finally given the chance the photograph him. I was nervous and I was asking him to stay still as I adjusted my lens. I remember thinking, in my dream, about which lens would be the best and how important these photos would be. I woke up panicked because I knew that would never be a reality for me. Honestly, it is okay. I had a great dad until I was 12. I am very grateful for his love and presence in my life as long as he could. This dream made me realize that I haven’t taken many photos of my mom. The dream reminded me of the importance of photographing your loved ones. The next time I saw her I asked her if I could take a few photos of her. She was a bit iffy about it. haha She was curious why I wanted photos of just her. After some persuading, she obliged. I used the same lens that was in my dream with my dad. I had her sit next to a window and I clicked away. Here are two of my favorites. ❤️
